The CMV blasting nozzles
feature a hard metal core (tungsten dicarbide) with very
high resistance to abrasion. Several designs have been
developed in order to obtain the best efficiency of
compressed air, abrasive material, and manpower, in several
applications. The housing system protects the core against
occasional shocks (impacts). The fastening system meets the
international standards, and enables the use of CMV nozzles
on equipment of other brand names. We can optionally supply
nozzles with a core in boron carbide or silicon carbide.
LONG VENTURI
NOZZLES
Of high output, they
produce abrasive material acceleration, which comes out at an
approximate speed of 724 km/h (450 mph). With this, an excellent
productivity is achieved, which reduces labor and compressed air
costs. These nozzles have housing in plastic material, which
ensures excellent protection of the hard metallic core against
shocks.

SHORT VENTURI
NOZZLES
Of medium output, they produce
abrasive acceleration, which comes out at an approximate speed of
400 km/h (248 mph). With this, a good productivity is achieved.
These nozzles are produced with steel housing, when threaded, and
with aluminum housing, when flanged, in both cases with insulation
against shock, in plastic resin.

RULES FOR THE SELECTION AND
CORRECT MAINTENANCE OF BLASTING NOZZLES
Today, the user of pressurized
blasting equipment has several options regarding blasting nozzles,
as to size, type and composition, to comply with the most
different applications. Much confusion, however, can be eliminated
by following the rules below:
1)
First, decide which blasting fan in necessary: The shape of the
nozzle orifice (profile) determines its blasting fan. In general,
the blasting nozzles have a relatively narrow blasting fan, which
is excellent to blast smaller areas such as small lattice works,
stairs, handrails, welding seams, etc. The nozzles with a venturi
profile produce a wider blasting fan and considerably increase the
outlet speed of the abrasive material. The long venturi nozzles
even increase the speed of the abrasive material by up to 100%,
thus significantly improving productivity when blasting larger
surfaces.
2) Make sure the compressed air supply will meet the outflow needs
of the nozzle: The air compressor must provide a production of
compressed air (outflow) equal to or higher than the one indicated
in the table below.
3) Select the correct diameter of the nozzle: For higher
productivity, choose the largest nozzle diameter that is possible
to actuate with your compressed air installation (availability).
4) Choose the correct nozzle material: Do not choose only based on
price, or based on which nozzle is more resistant to wear. Cheaper
nozzles can be of a lower quality, which may significantly
decrease their useful life. On the other hand, boron or silicon
carbide nozzles are extremely resistant to wear resulting from
abrasion, but are brittle, and therefore they should not be used
in manual blasting operations, where they would be subject to
shocks and consequent breakages. Tungsten carbide is the material
that has been having a better performance, because it combines
resistance to abrasion with a reasonable tenacity.
5) Check the abrasive material to be used: When we use aluminum
oxide or silicon carbide as abrasive material in automated
blasting operations, we should try to use nozzles with a boron or
silicon carbide core, which will offer a longer useful life, in
these cases.
6) Check and replace the nozzles frequently: The blasting nozzles
are wear items that need to be replaced quite frequently. The wear
translates into pressure reduction and into the consequent loss of
blasting speed. For every pound of lost power, there is a loss of
1.5% in productivity.

WET BLASTING NOZZLES (LONG VENTURI)
Indicated for blasting of concrete, facades or metals located
outdoors.
They totally inhibit dust, with a minimum consumption of water at
the pressure of 2kg/cm2 (normal from the public water supply),
thus ensuring excellent productivity. They incorporate a valve to
control the water flow, and are coated with aluminum.

"BAZOOKA" TYPE LONG VENTURI NOZZLES
These
nozzles provide a very high output, with similar characteristics
to the common long venturi nozzles, but with an intake cone with a
larger diameter (1.1/4 - 31.75mm) which ensures a better air /
abrasive material flow, thus obtaining a production that is
approximately 15% higher than that of conventional long venturi
nozzles. They have a brass-coated polyurethane housing which
ensures total protection to the core.
